Meiriona had decided to give Sebastien a little extra time before she went to his room to fetch him for their usual breakfast together. Honestly, he was going to need the rest if they were going to go out into the world at large and test out his skills of mixing in with the people of her home and his ability to help her out in her duties as a Lady Knight. It would be wonderful if he truly had what it took to be a sort of partner for her... And, as far as she was concerned, it would be a test of sorts for him. For if he were to pass that test, she would petition the King to allow her to take him on as her pupil, to teach him the ways of a Knight of her home kingdom. She had a feeling that he would make a very good Knight indeed once he came to learn more thoroughly what was and was not acceptible here.
That, and as a Knight, he would enjoy certain liberties that weren't available to other men or women. The rank would confer a sort of respected status to him that he could get no other way.
Unfortunately for her, when she did finally make it to Sebastien's room, he was nowhere to be found... She'd missed him by mere minutes, but minutes were more than enough for him to get far enough away that she might not find him for hours unless she was very lucky indeed or else unless she knew him that well even considering how short a time that they had known one another...
She couldn't help but to worry after him, wondering if he'd wandered out and found himself in conversation with some of the merchants again.... What if he tried to do something that wasn't acceptible, something that would label him as a Witch even though she knew that he wasn't, and she wasn't around to protect him in whatever way that she could? What if he was convicted by another Knight in the city, and there was nothing that she could do to keep him from being burnt alive, as was the only real way to be sure that a Witch wouldn't just return more powerful than ever and wipe out the entire city that had spurned them...
She turned and headed for the exit to Sebastien's rooom at a dead run, determined to save him from whatever calamity he might be getting himself into at the moment....
... .... .....
But Meiriona never actually made it out into the hallway, let alone outside to search for Sebastien. She made it as far as the doorway before the blinding bright blue light overcame her and sent her senses spinning for what seemed to be a shorter period of time than last time... She had almost actually seen more than just the light itself, but not quite this time.... Maybe one day she would see more than just that annoying light created by a Witch that was obviously determined to be rid of her no matter how many times it took...
Blinking slowly, she looked around the busy city, signs of magic everywhere, in plain sight! There were shimmers here and there where there should be none, some items seemed to be moving themselves around, doing the jobs that they had been designed to help with but without a guiding hand at all! And there was one thing that was more disturbing, more appalling, more nearly paralyzingly frightening than anything else that she'd seen thusfar....
She saw a man walking down the finely-cobbled street muttering to himself, and as she watched, an unnatural light appeared before him and kept pace with him....
It was true that it didn't seem to be attacking anything, but that didn't make it any less frightening for her... Mei turned and more or less hauled ass into the nearest alleyway to avoid running into any more Witches... What kind of place was this, where Witches had the run of the streets?!
